While the northeast braved a midwinter blizzard, the West Coast was feeling the heat – and we're not just talking about the comparatively warmer weather.

With the Grammy Awards on the horizon, the most famous faces of the industry were in their finest form Saturday to celebrate music's biggest night.

John Mayer and Katy Perry took their date night up a notch at Clive Davis and The Recording Academy's Annual Pre-Grammy Gala at the Beverly Hilton hotel, where they were spotted holding hands while Patti Smith performed. The couple was color-coordinated: he was in a white dinner jacket and black bow tie, and she wore a white designer dress.

While they were happy to take in the performances, Davis, at one point, called out Mayer, telling the crowd, "I read the papers and I see who you've been spending time with," before acknowledging Perry beside him in the audience.

Meanwhile, the party – which honored Epic Records's chairman and CEO Antonio "L.A." Reid, who received the 2013 Grammy Salute To Industry Icons Award – was a photo shoot for Miley Cyrus and Tyra Banks, who were spotted smizing for their own personal cameras. (Even Jennifer Hudson couldn't resist going for her close-up with the supermodel!)

But those weren't the only stars at the soiree.

PEOPLE was there, and documented the whole evening on Instagram and Twitter. Plus, take a peek inside PEOPLE's own party (which coincided with Davis's bash) and featured Grammy nominee Carly Rae Jepsen.

There’s another baby on the way for Alana De La Garza!

The Do No Harm star, 36, and her husband Michael Roberts are expecting their second child — a daughter — in July, De La Garza confirms via Twitter.

Before welcoming the couple’s first child — son Kieran Thomas, now 2 — the former Law & Order actress admitted pregnancy was a privilege she was excited to experience.

“I feel honored to grow this little person inside of me,” De La Garza told Pregnancy. “It sounds cheesy and hormonal, but it’s really a miracle.”

Blizzard Forces Katie Holmes to Miss Her Own Fashion Show

Katie Holmes spent yesterday kicking off her heels with fashion editors in a New York City hotel suite to present the latest elegant collection for her Holmes & Yang fashion line. But today, the blizzard that’s battering the East Coast caused Holmes to reprioritize. Her daughter Suri‘s school was closing early, it was explained, and she had to go pick her up.

That practical part of her life — and that of her design partner and stylist Jeanne Yang, herself a mother to twin girls — is an ever-present influence on their fashion philosophy. “Our customer is somebody who wants to be comfortable” says Yang, who walked PEOPLE through an intimate one-on-one presentation of the line. “You want to look good, but Katie and I always talk about this, it should never come at the cost of comfort.”

As Holmes herself told The New York Times, their goal is “to make high-quality pieces that are simple enough, you can wear over and over again.”

With luxe fabrics and silhouettes that show subtle peeks of skin, Holmes & Yang, produced entirely in America, was inspired this season “by the 40s by way of the 70s, Katherine Hepburn, and menswear with little touches of femininity,” says Yang.

One of Holmes’s favorite looks is a figure-flattering, shoulder exposing peplum power suit because, “Katie and I always talk about our shoulders,” says Yang. “The fact is that shoulders are always sexy, and you never lose your shoulders.”

The designers took an equally beauty-conscious yet practical approach to the Bobbi Brown makeup their models wore (Holmes is the face of the line). William & Kate Enjoying Private Mustique Babymoon

The The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are keeping a low profile on their "babymoon" to the idyllic island of Mustique.

The couple – expecting their first baby in July – are staying at a five-bedroom villa set in lush gardens, which normally costs an eye-popping $25,000 a week. Also enjoying paradise are Kate's parents Carole and Mike and siblings Pippa and James.

On previous visits, William, 30, has stopped by to grab a drink and play the piano at the bar at Firefly, and together the couple have participated in Sunday night Karaoke at Basil's Bar.

But on this visit, the couple are mostly keeping to themselves, and they have good reason.

With a staff of six (including a chef on standby), a 60-foot infinity pool and a media room and guest cottage, the villa has everything they need. And, best of all for the private couple, it's completely hidden from the main road and with just the tips of the pitched roof line visible from the beach down below.

The stunning beach, which many believe to be the finest on the island, is just a short walk down a private path from the house. On their past trips the sporty pair made several trips a day down that path to stroll on the beach, take quick dips in the ocean and also to snorkel well past the rocky outcrops that border the cove. The beach is still public however, and the couple save their sunbathing for the villa's expansive pool deck. 

From the lounge chairs, pregnant Kate, 31, will be able to look along the surface of an infinity pool and out to the other islands of the Grenadines spread out in the ocean below.

Mustique, a favorite of the Middletons for years, and made famous by William's great aunt Princess Margaret and her friends in the 70s, ensures the privacy of its high-end visitors. A local tells PEOPLE, "The island is locked-down – that always means some royalty is here."

When they return, William is due back at his north Wales base, from where he flies search-and-rescue helicopters, while Kate is scheduled to visit a drug treatment center in London that is run by one of the charities she supports, Action on Addiction.

Sexy soccer star Alex Morgan's latest photo feature is a definite score!

The athlete, 23, channels Katy Perry, 28, in ESPN magazine's Feb. 18 music issue, sporting the same pose and summery ensemble as the cover of the pop star's 2008 One of the Boys album.

"I love Katy Perry," Morgan tells ESPN's blog. "There were a couple of other choices, but I just gravitated toward this one. The cover is cute and fun. It [was] a great shoot [with] such a fun background and I never get to wear an outfit like this."

Although Morgan says, "I don't have a voice like her, I don't really look like her," she feels confident that she pulled off the memorable look with success.

"I love the lips, I love the curls," she says. "This shoot was 75 percent getting ready, 25 percent shoot. The shot was one and done. It was perfecting every little detail the whole shoot: Sit this way, don't move, raise your eyebrows, move this."

No word yet on Perry's reaction to her sporty doppelganger.

Kate and William on Mustique for Another Vacation

Royal mom-to-be Kate is on a winter escape, enjoying the sunshine of a Caribbean vacation.

She and husband William are sunning themselves on the paradise island of Mustique.

They are staying in a luxury $28,000 villa, reports the U.K.'s Sun tabloid.

The island – which was popular with William's late great aunt, Princess Margaret, and is still hopping today with such celebrities as Mick Jagger – is a regular family vacation destination for the Duchess, whose parents, Carole and Mike, are said to be staying in a villa nearby.

Last year at this time, Kate and William stayed at Mustique's magnificent (and secluded) Aurora House.

This vacation comes at the same time Kate's office announced she is getting back into her public engagements.

On Feb. 19 she is due to check in on a facility run by one of her charities, Action on Addiction, which offers "a safe, secure and comfortable place for women to recover from substance dependence and receive additional support for other compulsive disorders."

Kim Richards: 'My Whole Life Today Is Amazing' Because I'm Sober

Kim Richards is in a good place.

Following a stint in rehab about a year ago, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 48, tells PEOPLE, "It hasn't been easy, but my whole life today is amazing, and I owe it all to my sobriety."

Part of what has contributed to her new outlook is her newly mended relationship with her sister, Kyle.

"When I came home from treatment, I thought it was going to be great," Kim says. "I just didn’t expect the response I wasn't getting from Kyle. You'll see [this season], my sister and I have these moments, these bonding moments. And then they go away and then you see more. It's so up and down the whole season for Kyle and I. And then Kyle and I really were able to put it together this Christmas."

Adds the reality star, "I haven't had a drink since – it was a year in December. I feel so strong, determined, healthy and happy. I have a great relationship with my children [and] with both of my sisters."

Thanks to her role on Housewives, Richards's progress has been acknowledged by more than just her family.

"You have no idea how many people out there have said, 'You have saved me. Because of you, I have 30 days [of sobriety],' " she says. "I cry. It makes me smile. It makes me cry-smile. I smile-cry. It's so rewarding."

Justin Timberlake Kicks Off Super Bowl Weekend By Returning to the Stage

Justin Timberlake is bringing music back in a major way.

The singer – who says he'll release a new album this year – marked his return to the stage at DirecTV's Super Saturday Night event in New Orleans.

And for those lucky enough to attend, Timberlake, 32, performed his single "Suit & Tie" with Jay-Z.

Paul McCartney and wife Nancy Shevell, Nashville's Hayden Panettiere, Sofia Vergara, David Arquette, Kate Upton, Will Ferrell, Aaron Paul and more were just a few of the A-listers enjoying the show.

John Legend and fiancé Chrissy Teigen posed for photos with Jay-Z and Timbaland and showed them off on Twitter.

Questlove of The Roots also shared his two cents on Timberlake's return by posting on Instagram. "Dude is KILLLIINNNNGGG it," he wrote, sharing a photo of Timberlake at the mic.

But Timberlake wasn't the only one to take the stage – Katy Perry, The Fray performed and Questlove, Jersey Shore's Paul "Pauly D" DelVecchio and Tom Cruise's son, Connor, all played deejay sets.

After posting plenty of photos of them together, Rihanna finally came clean, much to readers' chagrin, that she and Chris Brown are back on as a couple. The pop star, 24, and Brown, 23, have had a rocky past after he was charged with assaulting her in 2009. She told Rolling Stone magazine, in a cover story, that the reconciled relationship was important to her, despite any public scrutiny it would invite. "Even if it's a mistake, it's my mistake," she says. "After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I'd rather just live my truth and take the backlash. I can handle it."

Readers felt the love for Houston waiter Michael Garcia of Laurenzo's Prime Rib who put his job on the line when he came to the defense of a 5-year-old boy with Down syndrome, the son of Garcia's regular customers. When Milo Castillo, who has delayed speech issues, began to chat loudly about his recent birthday, a male customer nearby announced: "Special needs children need to be special somewhere else." An angry Garcia was angered refused to serve the man, and the story later lit up the restaurant's Facebook page with support.

They're famous and beautiful and now, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and his supermodel wife Gisele Bündchen own a $20 million, 22,000-square-foot castle-style Los Angeles home, replete with a moat. Wow, indeed. Brady, 35, and Bündchen, 32, will have plenty of room for their growing family, which includes son Benjamin, 3, and daughter Vivian, born Dec. 5, along with Brady's son, John, 5, from a previous relationship.

Fans were saddened by the split this week of longtime couple Ashley Judd, 44, and her husband of more than a decade, auto racing star Dario Franchitti, 39. Their exclusive statement to PEOPLE came as a surprise: "We have mutually decided to end our marriage. We'll always be family and continue to cherish our relationship based on the special love, integrity, and respect we have always enjoyed."

Outspoken Miley Cyrus, 20, drew laughs from readers when she referred to herself in a recent interview as already married. The singer, who's been engaged to actor Liam Hemsworth, 23, since May of last year, had also hinted at marriage in the past, posting photos on Twitter (since removed) of the couple wearing rings on their left hands. But she seems to just be jumping the gun. Hemsworth's rep confirmed to PEOPLE that the couple had not yet wed. "Definitely NOT married," said the rep.

It isn't often that Bachelor fans are shocked by the lack of kissing, but that's exactly what happened Monday when Selma Alameri, a San Diego real estate developer raised by strict Muslim parents, refused to make out with Sean Lowe on their one-on-one date in the desert. Selma, 29, explained her actions (or, well, lack there of) and talked about "black sheep" Tierra during a press call on Thursday.

You seemed disappointed – not to mention scared – when Sean took the "Iraqi to the desert" for rock climbing.
I was so scared but [I went into] survival mode and hauled ass up that rock. I was like, "I can't think about where I am or what I am doing or I'll go out of my mind." I loved him so much for him giving me the opportunity to prove to the world that I am more than just a glamour girl.

Refusing to kiss Sean had everyone talking. Why wouldn't you kiss him?
I don't believe that showing affection in public is a bad thing but my mom does. ... Her one simple request was don't make out with somebody on television. ... She didn't mind that I was going to do the show, which is so huge, and she clearly knows that I go on dates and that I've kissed a boy before. It was more for the people in our Arab circle. ... We have such a strong culture and my family is big in my life, so I needed to test Sean to see if he'd respect my family and culture. And it was a huge test for me to see if I could resist.

Did you regret withholding kisses or worry it'd put you at a disadvantage?
Honestly, I never regret anything ... [I was] afraid that he'd take that as [as a sign that] I don't really like him. But Sean is such an amazing man that he totally understood.

You said you wouldn't kiss Sean until you were last woman standing. Seriously?
At that moment, I meant it. ... I didn't know if I would end up kissing him. Things change. Life happens. You act on emotion. You'll have to wait and see what ended up happening.

Acknowledging the obvious cultural and religious differences, if Sean does pick you in the end, would he be welcomed by your family?
Yeah. Our family is American and lives the American culture. I was born into a Muslim family. I'm spiritual and believe in God, but I'm not a practicing Muslim.
My brother-in-law is blond-haired, blue eyed, very Catholic, very American. Every guy I've ever dated was American. He would fit right in.

If it can't be you, which of your housemates should end up with Sean?
None. I'm the best match for him. That was my man.

But seems Sean is falling for many girls at once.
I believe him that he has a connection with each of the girls. I loved and got along with all the girls in the house after living with them and all the drama with the exception of one. We won't mention in names.

Assuming you mean Tierra, was she as bad as she seems on TV?
Tierra was definitely the black sheep. ... She just doesn't know how to get along with other girls. Not everybody can handle dating a man with [25] other women – it's harder than you realize – but you signed up for this so don't take it out on us. I was like, "Lady, hide your crazy for a little bit."

It's hard to believe Sean doesn't see that side of her.
I don't blame him because she was so good at switching it on and off. She's got him so fooled. He didn't live with us or see her daily. She was a completely different person with him. I'd watch her with Sean and she'd be batting her eyelashes and be like a sweet puppy just looking into his eyes.

One Direction Boys' Moms Are Thrilled, Though Not About Those Tattoos

If you think it's been an emotionally crazy few years for the members of One Direction, imagine how their mothers feel.

"My mum just cries the whole time. My mum literally has not stopped crying for the past two and a half years," Liam Payne said Thursday on ITV's Daybreak show in Britain.

The boys may be world famous, but they insist their families are still their biggest fans.

"It's really nice just to like look out [at a concert] and see your family, however embarrassing they're being," said Zayn Malik. "Even if they're on the chair dancing, like, it's just cool."

Just don't invite them on stage. "Our mums would absolutely poo themselves if we brought them on stage," Louis Tomlinson said. "My mum wouldn't know what to do."

One things the moms are a little less thrilled about? The tattoos their sons have been getting.

"My mum went crazy about the whole tattoo idea," Payne said. Malik added that their manager, Simon Cowell, hasn't said anything about the tattoos, "but our mums have been like, 'Maybe you're getting a bit too much.' "

The boys also denied rumors they were house hunting in Los Angeles. "No," said Tomlinson. "I think someone just sits down and says, 'What can I write about today?' "

In any case, they may have a grander destination in mind. Both Tomlinson and Harry Styles revealed in the interview that they'd love to go to space.

By now, we’re sort of used to Lindsay Lohan‘s antics, but it seems that we’ll never get accustomed to her unusual outfit choices. Case in point: the two very different (but equally eyebrow-raising) styles she sported within 12 hours this week.

First up, Lohan traveled from N.Y.C. to L.A.Tuesday night in an ensemble that has never been worn before on a plane — and with good reason. From her billowy leather trousers to her fur-trimmed leather jacket, we can’t imagine a stiffer, sweatier travel ensemble. Add a floppy brown hat and you’ve got a look that’s very Indiana-Jones-meets-Kim-Kardashian.

Then she showed up (on time!) to her probation violation pretrial hearing in L.A. on Wednesday morning in an outfit that mixed a courtroom-ready dress with a nightclub-ready heel. A marked improvement from her leather look, but still completely inappropriate for the situation.

Two New Breeds to Compete at Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show

Looks like there will be some new furry faces at this year's Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

The American Kennel Club recently announced the inclusion of two new breeds for the 2013 competition, the Russell Terrier and the Treeing Walker Coonhound.

Per a description on Westminster's official site, new breeds are considered for addition when they've reached a significant number and distribution across the United States, as well as when a breed's parent club shows a growing interest.

Praised for being "athletic, intelligent, and fiercely loyal, the Russell Terrier is well-regarded for its hunting abilities, while the Treeing Walker Coonhound – bred to track and tree wild raccoons, hence its name – takes pride in its "clear, ringing bugle voice" and "intelligent, confident and sociable" nature.

Before these new breeds take their first bow at the show, to be held on Feb. 11 and 12 in New York City, tell us: Will you be watching?

Justin Bieber: 'I'm Not in the Happiest Place' After Selena Gomez Split

Breaking up is hard to do – even for Justin Bieber.

After his on-again, off-again relationship with Selena Gomez, the 18-year-old pop sensation tells Billboard how he's been handling single life.

"There's so many rumors. People say I call Selena every day and she won't pick up the phone or I'm chasing her down, and these are all fake stories," he says.

He continues: "I don't go on blogs or anything like that. I hear things. People tell me if something happens on the Internet. It gets back to me, definitely."

But when asked if he's "pretty heartbroken," Bieber admits he's hasn't been having the easiest time following his split.

"I'm not in the happiest place that I've ever been. I'm trying to get through what I'm going through. Like I said, I have my really close friends to cheer me up and keep me going," he says.

Bieber – who says his song "Nothing Like Us" is about his breakup with Gomez, 20 – says he relies on his music for emotional release.

"I'm 18. I have a great team around me," he says. "I have great friends. We have a blast. They keep me occupied and keep my mind off negative things. It's funny when people are like 'You're 18. What have you really gone through?' I'm thinking, 'What do you mean? When you were 18, you don't think you went through that stuff?' When you are 18, you're going through that transition. You have a high school girlfriend, you might not. Going to college. Figuring yourself out, leaving home."

Ailing Jennifer Lawrence Plans to Attend the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Say Sources

Will Jennifer Lawrence walk the red carpet at Sunday night's Screen Actors Guild Awards?

The Silver Linings Playbook star, who's nominated for her leading role playing troubled girl-next-door Tiffany, is currently sick with pneumonia, according to her costar. But sources tell PEOPLE that Lawrence is planning to attend the SAG Awards unless she takes a turn for the worse before showtime.

"She's been very sick," says one source. "She was laying low all week. She plans to be there tonight."

The actress, 22, was unable to attend Saturday's Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts International Awards in Los Angeles, where she was honored for her work in the film.

"I'm going to receive this on her behalf," Jacki Weaver told the audience as she accepted Lawrence's best lead actress trophy, according to E! News. "Poor Jen is really sick. She really is sick. She has pneumonia."

After nabbing a Golden Globe earlier this month, the actress is a favorite to pick up the SAG Award.

The 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awardswill air live on TNT and TBS on Sunday, Jan. 27, at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT) from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

Ashton Kutcher Parties in Sundance After jOBS Premiere

Ashton Kutcher's much-hyped movie jOBS premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on Friday, and the star was on hand – minus girlfriend Mila Kunis – for all the festivities.

Kutcher was one of the first to arrive at the official after party, hosted by Nur Khan Presents NK on Main Street for the cast and filmmakers and sponsored by Red Touch Media.

Kutcher was captivated by a floor-to-ceiling portrait of late Apple visionary Steve Jobs, whom Kutcher portrays in the film. Guests were quick to snap a photo of the actor admiring the subject of his role.

Without Kunis by his side, Kutcher very much remained a one-man guy, focusing his attention all night on his table of male friends and colleagues and posing for pictures with fans, according to an observer. The pride he takes in jOBS was palpable, as Kutcher was incredibly excited to chat about his film and role with all the guests who came up to greet him.

Co-star Ahna O'Reilly spent the evening in a very social mood, dancing to the beats of DJ Cash and catching up with co-star Josh Gad. Not to live down his "funny man" persona, Gad went into the evening entertaining all the guests and causing an uproar of laughter with Kutcher and O'Reilly while catching up about filming and their time at Sundance.

Game of Thrones Actor Wilko Johnson Feels 'Vividly Alive' After Cancer Diagnosis

Being diagnosed with terminal cancer has given actor and musician Wilko Johnson the desire to finally stop and smell the roses.

The Game of Thrones actor, 65, who is aware "death is upon me," tells U.K. Radio 4's Front Row that upon hearing the news of his condition, he left the doctor's office and oddly felt "an elation of spirit."

Says Johnson, "You're walking along and suddenly you're vividly alive. You're looking at the trees and the sky and everything, and it's just, 'Whoa. I am actually a miserable person.' I've spent most of my life moping in depressions and things, but this has all lifted."

Johnson's illness was announced earlier this month. His manager wrote a Facebook post explaining, "[Wilko] has chosen not to receive any chemotherapy."

The actor and longtime musician plans to make the most of his opportunities before he dies. In fact, he currently has a series of concerts, which he's billing as a farewell tour, scheduled for February and March in France and in the U.K.

"I'm not going to go on stage looking ill," he says. "I don't want to present a sorry spectacle. This position I'm in is so strange. ... I'm not hoping for a miracle cure or anything. I just hope it spares me long enough to do these gigs, then I'll be a happy man."

Longtime friends Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz hit up Crown restaurant on Manhattan's Upper East Side Tuesday night, escorted by Barrymore's husband Will Kopelman and Diaz's mystery date, a dark-haired man dressed in a suit.

Barrymore – looking radiant, according to an onlooker – was raving about her baby, 3-month-old daughter Olive, and the group appeared to be having a great time.

When it came time to chow down, the foursome shared a dinner of beet salad, pasta, scallops and steak.

In a new photo, Taylor Swift poses as the fairy-tale character Rapunzel featured in Disney's Tangled, who is famous for her long, golden locks. Swift, 23, is the latest star to pose for Annie Leibovitz's Disney Dream Portrait series commissioned by Disney Parks.

In the photograph, the singer is perched atop a tower, dressed in a purple and pink gown and surrounded by endless locks of shiny, blonde hair.

But the photo shoot isn't the only new thing happening for the Grammy nominee. Swift – who split from One Direction singer Harry Styles earlier this month – recently Tweeted she's making new music.

"Back in the studio. Uh oh …" she wrote.
